ASK THE EXPERT
Ihave
been collaborating with the Toronto Sun to introduce a new column in their newspaper where readers, who have purchased a house or condo from a builder can send in questions regarding anything and everything that they want to know about their new home buying experience. There are many people who really don't know what to expect after they have purchased their new home. They realize that there is so much more involved than just signing the Agreement of Purchase and Sale and mortgage payments. Following is an example of the types of questions that many people have: * What is the homeowner responsible for? * What are the timelines regarding deficiency repairs? * What is covered under warranty and what is not? * Why is it so difficult to communicate with the builder? I will be here to answer all of your questions. I am confident that through knowledge and understanding, this column will help to make your home buying experience happier and stress-free. I have been working in the new home construction industry for over 14 years in customer care, in both high rise condominiums and single family homes. I have the greatest respect for new home builders, however; I identified a need in purchasers and homeowners that were not being fully addressed so I decided to start my own company and founded DF Consultants. My company educates new home buyers in the after sales service process and procedures. I want home buyers to know that there is a service available to them when they need answers that they are not getting from any other source. I have learned that when a home buyer knows what to expect after they have purchased their new home, anxiety and stress are eliminated. One of my objectives is to improve communication between the purchaser and the builder which results in a strong and lasting relationship. My mission is to change the dynamics in the construction industry so that purchasers can have a positive experience when buying a new home from a builder and ultimately become happy homeowners. My service benefits the builder as well. What could be better for the builder than having a positive and satisfying relationship with their homeowners? There are so many new home construction sites going up all over Canada, both in single family homes and condominiums. Many people are going to be first time buyers who are going to have many questions. Even second and third time buyers want to make sure that they don't make the same mistakes that they made the first time around. They want to be able to enjoy the experience from choosing their interior finishes, right through to becoming a savvy homeowner. I am excited about this new venture because this type of column is long overdue. Home buyers need a place where they can ask questions in a forum where people are sharing the same experience and looking for the same answers. You can email your questions to dfconsultants@live.ca, and I will post and answer as many questions as I can here in the Toronto Sun. Make sure you read this column because I am sure many of your questions will be addressed. AD{TS1699220}
