Jackie Morra is an interior decorator and owner of Jackie Morra Interiors, a full service interior decorating company in the GTA. Turn your kid's room into a dream space

Empower your child by allowing them to choose the paint colour and décor accessories. to keep it organized. When they truly love something they take care of it. 2. When planning a bedroom, first layout the furniture to maximize space and storage needs. For example, try to incorporate the bed up against a main wall, add a six drawer dresser and a desk for school needs. 3. Use your child's favourite colours. Empower them by involving them in choosing paint colours, bedding and accessories. 4. Install a custom closet system to maximize storage that can be reconfigured as your child grows and their storage parameters change. 5. Try creating interest on the walls with paint by colour blocking walls, striping, creative decals and vinyl lettering. 6. Install safety-conscious, cordless window blinds or shades. Use blackout and shading with drapery panels to prevent light gaps which encourage a good night's sleep and prevent glare in entertainment rooms. 7. Add storage in various ways that is easy to use but still looks good. Functional doesn't have to be boring; be creative by using up the upper wall space of the room and multi-purpose furniture. 8. Add at least three pieces of lighting that create interest and personality with the use of appealing colours and materials. Make sure there is task lighting for areas that need to be well lit. 9. Add comfort in the space with the best mattress for comfort, a duvet, cozy seating, throws and an area rug for added warmth. 10.
