Editor?s message When you see the word condominium, a big high-rise building may come to mind which, while not incorrect, is, at the same time, not completely correct. Obviously the cycles mirror the economy and while activity in the housing sector is at one of its lowest ebbs in recent memory, a report from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation indicates it may have bottomed out. In the 2009 Housing Market Outlook, Lai Sing Louie, senior market analyst with CMHC, says 2009 will see the lowest number of new home starts in many years, with a rebound expected in 2010. ?We?re looking at 2009 as being the bottoming out year,? says Louie. ?In 2010, total housing starts in Calgary are expected to increase by 14% as economic conditions improve and job creation increases housing demand.?
