Rain or shine, one can get into their garden to take care of the 'to do' list. Start out by doing some stretching exercises, as you may discover some muscles that haven't been used since the last gardening season. Thereisstill time to catch up with pruning. In general, the spring pruning guideline is to prune deciduous trees and shrubs right until they leaf out. The exception to this rule is for birch and maples. Do not prune them until June or July, or when they are in full leaf. Most evergreens will not require much pruning. Removal of all dead, damaged or diseased branches should be done as soon as first noticed throughout the year.
